The lightweight Carrera T, which offers a purist driving experience with incredibly sporty equipment, is back for 2023, which is fantastic news for Porsche 911 enthusiasts. What exactly is in store for this model, aside from the removal of the back seats, lessened insulation, and an even more pronounced presence of the sound of the engine inside? Let’s look more closely.
The new Porsche 911 Carrera T, which sits between the base Carrera and the even more potent Carrera S, weighs just 1,470 kg, 35 kg less than the earlier model with a PDK transmission. With an acceleration time of 4.5 seconds from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour and a top speed of 291 kilometers per hour, the twin-turbocharged flat-six engine produces 379 hp and 331 pound-feet of torque.
Porsche Torque Vectoring and a mechanical rear differential lock are added to the Carrera S’s standard features for manual transmission models. The PASM sports suspension, which reduces the ride height by 10 mm, and the Sport Chrono package are also standard on the 911 Carrera T. It can be selected with the rear-axle steering option, typically only available on models starting with the Carrera S.
The Porsche 911 Carrera T’s exterior features Dark Grey highlights, which set it apart from the rest of the lineup. The redesigned door and back logos, as well as the trim strips on the rear lid grille, all have Agate Grey accents. Other contrasting components include the top and bottom trim on the side mirrors. The sports exhaust system’s tailpipes are high-gloss black, but the windscreen also has a grey top tint.
Not to be overlooked are the Titanium Grey Carrera S wheels, 20 inches up front and 21 inches back. Porsche offers distinctive hues such as Chalk, Carmine Red, Ruby Star Neo, Shark Blue, and Python Green, in addition to four solid hues and four metallic finishes. Customers can also use the Paint to Sample tool, which offers paintwork in over 110 different color tones, as an additional option.
The 911 Carrera T’s standard interior features a four-way power-adjustable Sports Seats Plus along with a GT sports steering wheel. The inside is finished with ornamental inlays and matte and high-gloss black trim. The contrast stitching and safety belts that come standard with the Carrera T interior package are available in either slate gray or lizard green as an upgrade option.
Adaptive Sports Seats Plus with 18-way power adjustability is another option worth considering. Alternatively, you can favor the even more athletic and remarkably light full bucket seats with Race Tex seat centers for optimal support in corners. The 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T should arrive in this country in the spring, but orders can already be placed with a base MSRP of $132,000—a little less expensive than the 911 Carrera S with PDK.
Porsche claims that the Carrera T’s standard seven-speed manual transmission, thinner glass, and smaller battery help to reduce its weight by 100 pounds compared to the ordinary Carrera, which is only available with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (PDK). As with the removal of the rear seat, the PDK is available at no additional cost.
